Germany
Germany - Brandenburg "Sanssouci Palace"
In comparison to other countries in Europe, Germany might not be the first choice as one’s vacation destination.
Due to it's varied landscape, however, possessing the Alps, beautiful lakes, the Baltic Sea and the North Sea, Germany
offers visitors with a wide rage of fun filled activities like hiking, cycling and sailing.
Germany is the seventh largest country in Europe, geographically, but has, with 82 million inhabitants, the largest population
within the EU.
Germany, however is not only a popular destination from a geographical standpoint. Germany has a very old culture,
which is visible not only in the architecture of it's old villages and cities but also in the traditional events every
region and every city celebrates. Deeply connected with the traditional events is the German cuisine, which offers great
regional variety. While sauerkraut and sausages are traditional German foods, there are many high class restaurants within
Germany which offer a healthy nouvelle cuisine.
By the attempt to overview the geographical variety and consequentially the wide rage of possibilities for the
own holidays the alps should be mentioned first. During the summer months, the alps are perfect for hiking,
rock climbing, or even mountain biking. In the wintertime, the alps attract skiers and snowboarders from all over Europe.
If planning to stay a bit longer in the south of Germany, the Black Forest and the Lake Constance should be considered
as potential travel destinations. Lake Constance is the third largest freshwater lake in Central Europe and is
internationally known as a paradise for sailers, windsurfers or even motorboat drivers.
The Black Forest is one of the best known regions in Germany, besides Bayern, and is deeply connected
with many clichés about the traditional German food, clothing and events.
The North and the Baltic Sea coasts of northern Germany include islands like Sylt or Rügen, which are additional tourist
attractions. Consider renting a bike to explore the region, with all its quaint, traditional seaside villages.
You can even enjoy your holidays on the beach, swimming, sitting in a beach chair, or flying a kite.
Even the cultural variety in terms of museums, art galleries and theatres offers many possibilities for enrichment.
